Teaching by asking, not by telling.

The same method used by the ancient Greeks. Now available every evening.

  1. Open with a question

The tutor diagnoses what the student already knows before deciding what to teach.

  2. Probe the reasoning

Every answer is met with 'Why?', 'What's your evidence?', 'How does that connect to the text?'

  3. Hint before revealing

If the student is stuck, a targeted hint comes first. The answer is only given after genuine attempts have failed.

  4. Connect to the exam

Command words, mark scheme awareness, and examiner expectations are woven into every session.

"I cannot teach anybody anything. I can only make them think." — Socrates

Common questions.

Why is this better than a human tutor?

Great human tutors are excellent, but they are rare. Director of Studies gives students regular, high-quality Socratic practice whenever they need it, with clear progress tracking after every session. A student's grades should never be capped by what their family can afford to pay for a tutor.

What happens in a session?

A session begins with diagnostic questions. The tutor then pushes student reasoning with follow-up prompts, always giving hints before answers, and links every discussion back to exam expectations and mark-scheme thinking.

Which exam boards are supported?

AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC, and SQA are supported across English Language and English Literature.

Is it suitable for GCSE and A-Level?

Yes. Sessions are structured for both GCSE and A-Level, with board-aware content and expectations.

What does the free trial include?

After an initial onboarding session, your first full session is free so you can experience the tutoring style, depth of questioning, and progress feedback before committing.
